Oil Technics Lube Oil demulsifier OT 775 produces a reduction in “ASH” content of 80 − 90%.

To meet the challenges of the European Waste Oil Directive and the Special Waste Regulations 1996, Oil Technics launched recently its new De-Ashing Demulsifier OT 775.

Used lube oil emulsions contain oil, water and heavy metals.

The heavy metals originate in part from the additive added to virgin oils and metal particles “absorbed” during lubrication life of the waste oil stock.

The treatment process requires:-

  1. Adding water to the emulsion to a water content of 20%.
  2. Heating the emulsion to approximately 80°C.
  3. Adding Sulphuric Acid at approximately 2-5 litres per m3.
  4. Thorough mixing of the oil, water and acid.
  5. Addition of demulsifier OT 775 at a dosage of between 2500 to 5000ppmv

The actual level of OT 775 dosage should be determined via pre-laboratory bottle or centrifuge tests.

(Oil Technics offers its customers a free laboratory demulsifier evalution service).

Typical results obtained with De-Ash demulsifier OT 775 show:-

Caution

Due to the use of Sulphuric Acid it is important that the treatment tank is corrosion resistant i.e. plastic or coated/lined steel.

The discharged water phase will be acidic with a pH of approximately 2 which was requiring corrosion protected discharge pipelines.
